Pixar's Tribute to Cinema

Pixar has a justified reputation for smart, dazzling entertainment for children and adults, but did you know that the studio’s films were also packed with as many classic film references as a typical Scorsese or Tarantino joint? If not, you will after you watch Pixar’s Tribute to Cinema from Jorge Luengo Ruiz.

Pixar’s Tribute to Cinema takes the form of a series of split-screen shots – the left is from a familiar Pixar movie, the right is the movie that the shots on the left were emulating, whether you realized it or not. Don’t feel too bad for not catching all of them the first time.  After all, how many kids watching Toy Story had even heard of The Shining?

To enhance your own cinematic appreciation of Pixar, you can watch Pixar’s Tribute to Cinema below. And for more videos by Jorge Luengo Ruiz, check out his account on Vimeo right here.
