One of the cornerstones of the IKEA retail experience is the meatball, but here’s a question that might not have occurred to you before now: What will meatballs be like 20 years in the future? The people at IKEA’s Space10 lab have come up with a few different answers to that question, together forming Tomorrow’s Meatball.

Tomorrow’s Meatball posits a future in which alternative food products are accepted by the populace, with meatballs made out of algae, recycled materials, and even insects. Luckily, in order to take in the project you don’t have to eat the meatballs, just look at them.

You can do just that by taking a look at some of the exhibits in Tomorrow’s Meatball in the gallery underneath these words. And for more on these fantastic futuristic food spheres, head over to the IKEA Space10 site right here to check out Tomorrow’s Meatball in full.
