Unfolding The 8-Bit Era

Visitors to a nightclub in Switzerland were treated to a very cool one-night-only event recently, facilitated by ETH Zurich and Disney (with a retroactive assist from the people at Nintendo). The project is known as Unfolding The 8-Bit Era, an appropriate title given that it’s essentially a 360-degree panoramic variant of video game classics like Super Mario Bros.

Unfolding The 8-Bit Era gave players the chance to experience versions of Super Mario Bros., Castlevania, and more, that were quite unlike any other version of the games, supporting as many as eight players across the massive 360-degree “screen” which was actually just the walls of the club itself pulling double duty.

It’s no surprise that you can’t play something like that at home, but you can check it out in action by watching Unfolding The 8-Bit Era for yourself below. And for more cool video game stuff just take a look at the ETH Game Technology Center on YouTube right here.
