Low: Live in Chicago

David Bowie‘s 1977 album Low is one of the very best of his legendary discography, which makes covering it in full a task that only the most foolish and/or courageous artists would try. You can now put Chicago rock band Disappears in that category, with the release of their album Low: Live in Chicago.

Apparently also unconcerned with their work being confused with a live album from the band Low, Disappears released Low: Live in Chicago on Friday, November 20th, and it’s a surprisingly faithful rendering of the Bowie record. That means the first half is (relatively) straightforward, art-damaged rock, with the second half given over to longer ambient instrumentals, both of which are well-handled by the band.

Disappears’ Low: Live in Chicago is now available on streaming services like Spotify, as well as vinyl LP and even a limited edition cassette edition. For more from Disappears, check out their official site here.
