Jaguar E-Type

As the legend goes, Jaguar launched an initiative in 1963 to create the lightest, fastest E-Type possible out of aluminum in order to dominate on the racetrack. They set out to build 18 of the vehicles, but only 12 actually made it off the assembly line, and it took more than 50 years for the people at Jaguar Heritage to complete the intended line. Now, a making-of video for the lightweight aluminum Jaguar E-Type has been unveiled.

The video shows the making of Jaguar E-Type vehicle S850670 pretty much from the bottom up. And you can really see just how much old-fashioned hand labor goes into a vehicle like this, a far cry from the typical image of cars built by automated robots.

If you’ve got five minutes to spare, you may want to watch a lightweight aluminum Jaguar E-Type get constructed in the video below. And for more automotive goodies, head over to the official Jaguar site here.
