Sennheiser Orpheus

Sennheiser is one of the most revered and respected brands in headphones, and a large part of how they’ve acquired that reputation is the Sennheiser Orpheus headphones introduced back in 1991. Back then the Orpheus headphones were billed as the best in the world, and now the brand name is making an extremely special edition comeback (with an extremely high price tag to match).

The $55,000 Sennheiser Orpheus headphones are crafted from precious metals like silver and gold for both beauty and function, with various cutting-edge features for optimum, unheard-of audio quality (which I’m not smart enough to explain adequately). They don’t plug in directly to your computer or record player, either, instead working with the included amplifier housed in a solid block of Carrara marble. Like the silver, gold, and glass in the headphones themselves, the marble isn’t just for show, as the material is known for its lack of “structure-borne noise.”

Since, let’s be honest, you’re probably not going to drop more than $50K on a pair of headphones unless you’re a recent lottery winner or multimillionaire, you’re going to have to be content just to look at the Sennheiser Orpheus headphones here and drool.
