Prison Ramen

Gustavo “Goose” Alvarez was an inmate at Chino when he made an interesting discovery: Even in the thick of violent prison race riots, opposing individuals could reach common ground over a bowl of ramen noodles. Now, he’s joining up with actor Clifton Collins Jr. to share that story and others, as well as recipes, in the cookbook Prison Ramen: Recipes and Stories from Behind Bars.

Prison Ramen: Recipes and Stories from Behind Bars includes recipes for celebrity-assisted ramen dishes like Shia LaBeouf’s Egg Ramen Salad Sandwich or the Danny Trejo Machete Ramen, but its greatest asset is the authentic experiences and stories found within.

If you want to give your home-cooked meal a little bit of the prison life, or if you just want a cookbook that goes outside the usual polite boundaries of the form, check out Prison Ramen: Recipes and Stories from Behind Bars on Amazon here, where you can get a copy for just eight bucks.
