‘Money for Nothing’: Artists Destroys 100 $1 Bills for Art (Photos)

Funny thing: We routinely read about and see artwork that cost tens of thousands of dollars, or even more, to make, and it doesn’t seem that strange (depending on the finished product). But artist Marcus Kraft didn’t just spend a hundred bucks to make his new project Money for Nothing, he actually destroyed 100 $1 bills.

Money for Nothing is either a provocative artistic statement about the inherent absurdity of our society’s obsession with money, a stupid trifle, or a disappointing half-measure (if Kraft really wanted to ruffle feathers, he should have used a higher denomination!). But his defacement of government currency is varied and entertaining enough to be worth checking out, regardless of your immediate opinion.

You can do just that by taking a look at a few photos from Money for Nothing in the gallery below, and to get your own limited edition copy, head over to Kraft’s official site right here.
