NASA TV UHD: Ultra High Definition From NASA Coming Soon
I don’t have to tell you that it’s been a hot year for NASA, and they’re showing no signs of slowing down. Their latest project is a 24-hour television channel that will broadcast 4K ultra high definition footage that’ll be called NASA TV UHD.
Starting on November 1st, NASA TV UHD will bring viewers 3840×2160 resolution video at 60 frames a second, the next best thing to actually being in space yourself (and you won’t have to worry about running out of oxygen). The channel will be a collaboration with Harmonic Inc., and programming will include footage taken from the International Space Station, other contemporary NASA missions, and most excitingly, “re-mastered footage from historical missions.”
If you’re one of the lucky few people out there with an ultra high definition TV, start bugging your cable provider about NASA TV UHD now so you can be sure you’ll get it on November 1st. In any case, you might want to get a little bit more info on the channel from NASA’s official press release here.
