TriFan 600: Copter/Jet Hybrid Goes Door to Door, Not Airport to Airport (Video)
The XTI Aircraft Company has developed a new kind of aircraft that merges elements of a helicopter and a jet into its design, resulting in a sleek and efficient plane that the company says can deliver passengers “door-to-door rather than airport-to-airport.” It’s called the TriFan 600, and it’s now in the midst of a crowdfunding campaign to get the project off the ground (so to speak).
The TriFan 600 combines the passenger experience of a small luxury jet with the flexibility and versatility of a helicopter, thanks to its three ducted fans that allow for vertical takeoffs and landings. The potential for such a craft are obvious, particularly in the fields of tourism, but transportation in general would be a lot easier with its availability.
