Steve McQueen’s 1976 Porsche 930 Turbo Carrera Up for Auction
Chrysler Imperial Parade Featured on ‘Jay Leno’s Garage’ (Video)
It’s been a hot minute since Jay Leno addressed the citizens of Burbank, CA from a dignitary position, but on the most recent episode of his web series Jay Leno’s Garage he got to step back into a position of authority, at least in automotive form. That’s because the episode features a Chrysler Imperial Parade, a car acquired by the government back in the 50s for the express purpose of publicly transporting politicians and other dignitaries.
In the episode, Jay parses the Chrysler Imperial Parade’s somewhat complicated history (it’s technically a 1952 car despite updates that mark it as being from a slightly later year) and tests out the car’s built-in loudspeaker system to theoretically comic effect. He also comments upon the car’s lack of bulletproof protection, a sign of a more naive time, but he risks riding out in public in the car anyway.
