Burger King Japan Launches Red “Aka” Burgers (Pics)

You might have seen those crazy looking black cheeseburgers from Burger King Japan a while back, with buns and cheese turned black by some kind of forbidden kitchen chemistry. Now, the restaurant is rolling out something almost as disturbing – the “Aka” burger, which translates in English as “Red.”

As you might expect from a burger with a red bun and red cheese, Burger King Japan’s Aka Samurai Beef and Aka Samurai Chicken sandwiches will put a premium on spiciness when they come out next month. They’ll come with a special chili sauce made from red peppers and miso, and it better taste pretty damn good to make you forget you’re eating red cheese.

Unfortunately for any adventurous North American eaters reading this, you’ll have to make a trip to Japan to sample Burger King Japan’s Aka line of sandwiches starting on July 3rd. But if you’re not too rusty on your Japanese, you can get some more information at the restaurant’s official site right here. Or you could just take a look at both of the sandwiches in the gallery below.
