Land Rover Autonomous Car Technology

James Bond and other fictional heroes have had cars that can be controlled without the advantage of sitting in the driver’s seat for decades now, but real life is taking a while to catch up. We might be getting there soon, though, thanks in part to the unveiling of prototype Land Rover Autonomous Car Technology, recently posted online by the company.

The demonstration of Land Rover Autonomous Car Technology shows a Range Rover Sport being started, driven, and steered via a nearby smartphone. The idea is for the driver to be able to navigate from outside the vehicle, and the technology as it exists now tops out at four miles per hour. It’s an impressive piece of work, but safety regulations and other concerns mean we probably won’t see it on the market for a little while at least.

For now, you can check out Land Rover’s demonstration of their own Land Rover Autonomous Car Technology prototype below. And for more, stay tuned to Land Rover’s official site here.
