Nike Air Trainer 1 "Jerry Rice"

One of the latest Nike releases is a tribute to Jerry Rice, legendary wide receiver for the San Francisco 49ers. And it’s that team that provides the chromatic inspiration for┬áthe colorway that takes his name, in the Nike Air Trainer 1 “Jerry Rice” sneaker.

The 49ers aren’t the only aspect of Jerry Rice’s past to get a visual shout-out in the design of the Nike Air Trainer 1 “Jerry Rice” release – there’s also the brick-like graphic that graces the insoles, which might strike you as a non-sequitur until you learn that Rice’s father made his living as a brick mason. There’s also a trowel graphic on each heel, another reference to Rice’s brick-laying family background.

The Nike Air Trainer 1 “Jerry Rice” hit select Nike retailers on May 1st, so if you’re a fan of Rice and/or the 49ers and have $120 to spare you might want to head to the Nike online store here to pick up a pair for yourself.
