XM42: World’s First Commercially Available Handheld Flamethrower
The late, great comedian George Carlin used to do a bit about flamethrowers, and part of it was that “we don’t have flamethrowers, the Army has them.” I just wish George had lived to see this day, when an affordable personal flamethrower has become available to the general public. It’s the XM42 personal flamethrower.
The XM42 fits in your hands and can shoot white hot flames as far as 25 feet from the nozzle. You can use it to light bonfires or clear ice from a driveway, but let’s face it – it’s only a matter of time before someone uses one to literally light someone else up (George warned us about that too).
We still have a little bit of time before everyone and his kid brother starts toting around XM42 flamethrowers, though, since the product’s crowdfunding campaign is set to begin on Monday.
