Microsoft HoloLens: Holographic Virtural Reality Helmet Unveiled (Video)
I’m not a big Star Trek fan, but even I am familiar with the Holodeck, the chamber that lets users step inside a completely realistic holographic simulation of any environment they choose. And at a recent Microsoft live event, it appeared that we’ve come one step closer to the Holodeck reality, with the unveiling of the Microsoft HoloLens.
The key difference between the Holodeck and the Microsoft Hololens lies in the latter’s ability to integrate the user’s actual surroundings with its interface. This means that when you’re using it, you won’t lose sight of what’s going on in the real world, which is probably good news for jealous spouses of early tech adopters everywhere.
Release details on the Microsoft HoloLens are still to come, but you can watch a very cool demonstration of the device in a clip from the aforementioned live event below. And for more, head over to the official HoloLens page of the Microsoft website here.
