The Dr. Dreidel Had to Happen Eventually
The internet has done a lot to get people interested in bad puns and other forms of wordplay again. So it was only a matter of time before this product was going to hit the market, destined for success in an online environment in which people not only love puns but also old-school hip hop and Judaism. I’m referring, of course, to the Dr. Dreidel.
Now for the bad news: The Dr. Dreidel isn’t for sale, at least not now. It’s more of an art project from Hannah Rothstein, who crafted the toy out of “sheer hilarity and the love of puns.” But who knows? Maybe if enough people see it and talk about it, she’ll get some kind of production deal and we can start seeing these things on store shelves by next Hanukkah. It could happen!
For now, though, you’ll have to be content with a few photos of the Dr. Dreidel in the gallery below. And for more, head over to Hannah Rothstein’s website here, where you can also see more projects from the artist.
