Hendo Hoverboards

Everyone knows that the hoverboard from Back to the Future Part II is one of the most coveted fictional items of all time. And going back to promotion for the movie before it was even released, the notion that such a gadget could be real has been encouraged by various unscrupulous individuals.  But now, Hendo Hoverboards seems to have made one for real.

The Hendo Hoverboards are in their fundraising stage, and the people at Hendo need $250,000 to get their work into production (somehow I doubt that’s going to be a problem for them). It works through some complicated technological process involving (what else?) magnets, and gives the rider a frictionless hover of about one inch away from the ground. Not a bad start for something that most people probably assumed was impossible!

You can check out the Hendo Hoverboards Kickstarter page here, where a Hendo Hoverboard will cost you a goodly ten grand. But there are plenty of other incentive levels too, so don’t be discouraged by that price tag. The only thing left to do now is crowdfund a dozen or so sequels to Jaws in the next year, and we’ll be able to live in the Back to the Future version of 2015 for real.
