‘Star Warps’: An Online Collection of ‘Star Wars’ Inspired Art (Photos)

Back in the days of classical art, most (if not all) of the great artists were inspired by the two most important things going on in the world at that time: Great battles, and Bible stories. Now, things have changed, but not as much as you might think, because there are enough artists getting their ideas from the Star Wars franchise that there’s now Star Warps, an online book made up of specially curated works of art inspired by Star Wars.

Star Warps is a collection selected by DK Burkeman, and is arranged in roughly chronological order, going all the way back to 1977 when at least one artist got the jump on his peers by doing a Star Wars inspired piece early. Star Warps doesn’t just allow you to look at the collection, but also includes museum-like text segments that give additional information on the pieces, sometimes through interviews with the artists themselves.

You can check out Star Warps totally free at the project’s website here, and a few of the best photos from it in the gallery below. And try to appreciate the effort that went into sifting through the millions of pieces of Star Wars influenced ephemera that’s floating around out there to make this possible.
