The Apple Watch: Apple’s Smartwatch Finally Unveiled (Video)
Yesterday at Apple‘s lavish keynote event, arguably the most exciting part of the program came at the very end. Apple CEO Tim Cook went all Columbo on everyone when the presentation was seemingly over, saying “there’s one more thing” before unveiling the new Apple Watch.
According to Apple, the Apple Watch is “the most personal device” ever to come out of the company (which, if you remember having to break up with your iPod over dinner, you know is saying something). Like previously existing smartwatches, the Apple Watch has a strong health & fitness component, but with special Apple touches like the Digital Crown, which lets you perform a variety of functions without touching the screen – but don’t worry, the Apple Watch has a touchscreen, too, in sapphire, no less.
The Apple Watch also comes pre-loaded with fitness tracking apps Activity and Workout, the latter being for exercise and the former designed to track your activity all day, even down to how much time you spent standing up instead of sitting. And it will not only work with iPhones from 5 to 6 Plus, but an impressive swath of different straps you can swap out whenever you feel like it.
It will be early 2015 when the Apple Watch hits stores with a $349 price tag, but you can watch a ten-minute intro video of the watch below. And for more from Apple check out the brand’s website here.
