Movie buffs are probably already familiar with the name Cinecittá, as the legendary Italian studio is the home of many famous movies like Ben-Hur and La Dolce Vita. But now, Cinecittá has gotten into the amusement park business with Cinecittá World, a park that seeks to give visitors the experience of stepping into a movie. Here’s Emmanuel Gout, the president of Cinecittá World:
“Here, the idea is that people will also enter not only sets, but the confusion of a place where we are shooting movie. Everything will be illusion. The visitor will become a protagonist of the day, becoming a star, becoming involved in some fake movie.”
In order to do that, the developers of Cinecittá World enlisted the help of designer Dante Ferretti, an Academy Award-winning art designer. Cinecittá World is also home to at least two thrill rides—a scifi-themed spaceship roller coaster and a “water coaster” in the park’s Ancient Rome area.
The owners of Cinecittá World are hoping that visitors to Rome stay an extra couple days to explore the park, which costs under $40 to enter. But even if you’re not going to be in Rome any time soon to check out the park, you can watch a video about Cinecittá World below, see some photos of the park up top, and get some more info from the park’s website here.
