Willie Cauley-Stein

Last night, at the NCAA National Championship game between the Kentucky Wildcats and the UConn Huskies, Kentucky’s Willie Cauley-Stein managed to grab more than his fair share of attention even as he was restricted to the Wildcats’ bench due to an injured ankle.

Underneath Willie Cauley-Stein’s jersey, the Wildcat center had on some kind of loud-patterned print long-sleeved shirt, which was almost flashy enough to absorb the Kentucky jersey completely in its glare. It may have even been some kind of homage to LeBron James’ similarly ostentatious fashion choices (remember this?), but no one knows for sure.

In any event, Willie Cauley-Stein’s flashy bench outfit wasn’t enough of a distraction to the opposing team for the Wildcats to win the game, since they ended up losing to the Huskies by a score of 60-54.  But it did get Cauley-Stein some attention even though he was out for the entire game, so maybe it served its intended purpose after all.
