Before we get to details about this new Air Jordan VI colorway, a little bit of background. The year was 1991, and Michael Jordan wore the Air Jordan VI to beat the Los Angeles Lakers for the NBA championship (Jordan’s first championship of six). But the most important part of this mythology is what happened afterward: Michael Jordan smoked a cigar for the first time.
What might be a forgotten footnote for most other celebrities is now the inspiration for a new high-profile Air Jordan VI colorway for Michael Jordan. It’s called “Championship Cigar,” and its gold-colored nubuck upper is designed to mimic just that. You probably shouldn’t smoke it, but the “Championship Cigar” Air Jordan VI might be good enough to wear.
