At the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain, Samsung finally took the lid off of their newest flagship smartphone: The Galaxy S5. For the most part, the Galaxy S5 isn’t the huge leap forward from the Galaxy S4 that many were expecting (no iris scanner, for instance), but it does have some very important improvements over the previous model smartphone.
Aside from the usual hardware and software upgrades, the Samsung Galaxy S5 has some brand new features that will be of the most interest to consumers. There’s the fingerprint sensor on the front, heart rate monitor on the back (part of an ongoing trend in health-releated featured in new technology), and supposedly waterproof and dustproof construction.
As for cosmetics, the Samsung Galaxy S5 will be available in four different colors—black, white, blue, and gold—when it hits store shelves in the spring. The worldwide release date is April 11th, so stay tuned for any update regarding availability or pricing as we get closer to that day.
For now, you can take a look at some pictures of the Samsung Galaxy S5 in the gallery up top, so enjoy.
