If you’re in the market for an old German amusement park, good news: There’s one up for sale on eBay. It’s the Berlin amusement park formerly known as Spreepark, and it can be yours for only a little over $2 million.
For your money, you’ll be getting an empty amusement park, yes, but also a whole lot of history. Spreepark was originally called Kulturpark Plänterwald, and it was the only amusement park located in East Berlin after it opened in 1969. It was financed by the communist East German government, and was distinguished by being home to the only Ferris wheel in Berlin. Since then, the life of Spreepark has been a somewhat sad decline, culminating in Norbert Witte’s attempt to smuggle cocaine into Germany from Peru inside a flying carpet ride.
Since Spreepark’s closing in 2002, it’s been seen in the movie Hanna. And now it’s making another appearance, this time on eBay. You can check out the auction here(warning: it’s in German), or just take a look at some creepy photos of the park in the gallery up top.
