Sriracha

While retirees in the suburbs are slathering their food with ketchup and mayonnaise, hip young people know that the actual kind of condiments is Sriracha, the hot sauce formerly only seen in Chinese restaurants but now is in hipster pantries all over the country, and appearing in novelty items like Sriracha popcorn and Sriracha frozen yogurt (I made that last one up, but it probably exists).

So it figures that Sriracha is now the subject of a documentary. Filmmaker Griffin Hammond decided to embark on an informational journey about the sauce, in an attempt to figure out just what makes it so popular and to learn more about its history and origins. And he chronicled it all in a documentary, entitled, cleverly enough, Sriracha.

Sriracha is available now on Vimeo for the price of $5, but you can check out a trailer below for free. Following the trailer, there’s a link to seeing the entire movie in full.
