It’s now time for LG to get into the curved smartphone game with the G Flex. Billed as “the world’s first ‘real’ curved smartphone” (a clear swipe at the Samsung Galaxy Round), the G Flex runs on Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean and also has one fascinating feature that no other smartphone has: a “self-healing” case.
That’s right, the LG G Flex is said to have a coating on its rear casing that lets it absorb and heal from damage, like Wolverine or Dracula. Or, as LG stated in a less dramatic fashion, it “has the ability to recover from the daily wear-and-tear scratches and nicks.” LG also claims that the G Flex’s curve is more ergonomically and visually advantageous than previous curved screens.
For now, the LG G Flex will only be available in Korea, but expect this innovation to hit closer to home sooner or later. For now, you can see a few pictures of the phone in the gallery up top.
