If you want to get a good look at the future, apparently it looks a lot like a curved screen. Next-generation HDTVs have been curved for a while, and now Samsung has introduced the first smartphone in the world with a curved screen.
It’s called the Samsung Galaxy Round, and its gently curved screen is said by the brand to fit the curvature of the average person’s face, and allows for control of the phone to happen in a new way. The full potential for a curved smartphone is almost certainly still to be realized, but for now users can use features like Roll Effect, which according to Samsung, “enables user(s) to check information such as date, time, missed call and battery easily when home screen is off.”
The Samsung Galaxy Round is currently set to be released in South Korea. Plans for a worldwide release, if they exist, have not yet been made public.
