Back in the 1970s, one Girard B. Henderson, in a state of Cold War paranoia, built an underground bunker underneath his two-bedroom Las Vegas house. Now, the house is going up for sale, and we can get a look at the elaborate and unusual bunker.
This is not your typical nuclear bunker (i.e. a hanging light bulb, a heavy steel door and a bunch of cans of food). Rather, this is an underground 70s bachelor pad, complete with swimming pool, putting course, two bedrooms, an underground “yard,” and much more. The whole thing is designed to replicate the look of an actual above-ground house, with paintings of outdoor vistas in front of windows and other hyper-realistic touches.
The property is now for sale at $1.7 million. But since that’s probably out of your price range, just check out some pictures in the gallery above.
