Early last year, young gifted athlete Isaac Arzate suffered a tragic heart attack that took his life, due to an abnormality in his heart. In the months between his diagnosis and his passing, Arzate continued to actively participate in a variety of sports.
Now, Jordan Brand is paying tribute to Isaac with a new “Isaac Arzate” colorway for a retro release of the Air Jordan 5 Retro Doernbecher Freestyle sneaker. The shoe features Arzate-specific touches, like a poem he composed close to the end of his life emblazoned in glow-in-the-dark ink on the upper, along with his initials, birthday and date of passing.
All proceeds from the “Isaac Arzate” Air Jordan 5 Retro Doernbecher Freestyle sneaker will go towards the OHSU Doernbecher Children’s Hospital, and the sneakers are set to come out on September 14th in select retailers and online here.
