Swiss photographer and artist Gus Petro, on a recent visit to the United States, noticed the dichotomy of extremely crowded and dense areas along with vast, empty expanses. And in a flash of artistic inspiration, he decided to combine the two ideas into one.
The project is called Merge, and features shots of the most famous skyline in the world crammed down into the most famous canyon. Petro first took a series of matching photographs of both Manhattan and the Grand Canyon, then combined them with Photoshop to get the images you see in the gallery above.
The Photoshop work could be a little more polished, but overall it’s still kind of interesting to look at. Just think how much cheaper a Manhattan apartment would be if this could happen in real life.
