Underwater cycling was invented in Italy, and has become a big craze across Europe. Now, it hits American shores for the first time at The Aqua Studio in Tribeca, New York.
Aqua’s array of metal stationary bikes are situated under four feet of water, with the handles just under the surface. This allows the underwater cyclers to burn up to 800 kilocalories over the course of a typical 45-minute session. Prices range all the way from a $34 trial class, up to a 30-class plan for $990. There are also plans in the works for Aqua to add a juice bar and massage rooms to its facilities.
