BlackBerry Z10

BlackBerry smartphones may seem a little antiquated in today’s touchscreen-heavy world – or, at least, they did before today’s unveiling of the brand-new BlackBerry Z10. The Z10 has been buzzed about for a while, but now smartphone fans can get a good look at the device that BlackBerry (formerly known as Research In Motion) hopes will compete with brands like Apple and Android in the smartphone department.

And with features like the new BlackBerry 10 operating system, a 356 pixel-per-inch display (that’s 30 pixels sharper than the iPhone 5), a 1.5GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, and 8-megapixel rear camera (along with a 2-megapixel front counterpart, both equipped with a really cool “Time Shift” feature that lets users mix and match different moments in time in one photo), that competition may be getting more heated than anyone would have guessed a year ago.

Pricing and availability will vary based on carriers, but BlackBerry says the Z10 should be available for around $199 with a contract, or $599 unlocked.
