Best Home Aquariums

Aquarium-Sink

A simple glass bowl and a few rocks are good enough for most fish. But some people expect more for their aquatic pets. Here are nine examples of home aquariums that go a lot farther your average tank. From luxurious aquatic environments to simple decorative novelties, these are some of the coolest home aquariums out there.

So check out the gallery for some of the coolest aquariums I could find. Just be sure not to press your face on the glass, it leaves a smudge.

Coffee Table Aquarium

There are lots of variations on this simple idea: Combine an aquarium with a coffee table. Instead of magazines, you have a much nicer conversation piece – tropical fish. Plus you could probably put some magazines on there too

Wall-Mounted Aquarium

One way to save a little money on home entertainment is by putting an aquarium where your TV would be. This is extra economical because ALL aquariums are high-definition, no matter how cheap they are. As an example, just check out the nice undersea panorama displayed up above.

Glass Art Aquarium

They say a good home appliance will double as a piece of art for your house. And that definitely applies to these aquariums from designer Vanessa Mitrani. And despite their strange appearance, they are reportedly safe for the habitation of fish. Functional, and visually pleasing!

Ice Aquarium

On the other end of the safety spectrum would be this “aquarium,” made from ice. Although calling it an aquarium is a bit like calling a morgue a hotel, since those fish are frozen inside there. Still, it looks nice, right?

Spillarium

Spillarium

Here’s a pretty cool visual effect: An aquarium that appears to be constantly spilling water, but never actually gets any emptier. Through the magic of science, the Spillarium achieves just that optical illusion. Is it possible that one of the fish could spill in through the cycle? That’s just part of the fun!

Aquarium Sink

Yet another part of the tradition of combining aquariums with other items is the Moody Aquarium Sink. True to its title, its a sink that can also be a home to your collection of fish. Great for people who want to spit into aquariums without getting into trouble.

Pipeline Aquarium

Pipeline Aquarium

One disadvantage to living in a fish tank is that you don’t get as much exercise as fish out in their natural habitat get. Plus, it can get a little boring watching a fish swim around the same small space over and over again. Solution: This pipeline aquarium, which connects two fish tanks via an elaborate pipeline from one to the other.

Labyrinth Aquarium

 Labyrinth Aquarium

A more complex twist on the idea posited by the previous entry, the Labyrinth Aquarium earns its name with its many twists and turns. It’s all up to the fish inside to explore, while you and all of your guests enjoy the view. It’s got a pretty heavy price tag though, at $6,500.

Phone Booth Aquarium

There’s very little market left for the once mighty phone booth, so some intrepid individuals have taken to converting them into aquariums. Take the above example, which features an array of coral reef in addition to the original phone inside its glass and metal walls. Remember to seal up the quarter slot, you don’t want to get any fish caught in there.
