Disney Buys LucasFilm, Sets Stage For Three More ‘Star Wars’ Movies
In news that was quite surprising to many pop culture fans, Star Wars creator George Lucas sold his company LucasFilm to Disney for $4 billion dollars, allowing Disney to make plans for another new trilogy of official Star Wars films, while also exploring countless other options for the popular movie franchise.
For his part, Lucas will serve as a “creative consultant” on the new direction of the Star Wars universe, although by most accounts his involvement will be in a more “hands-off” manner.
One interesting note to come from this story is that the next Star Wars movie is set for a 2015 release, so you might want to start camping out at your local movie theatre now.
