15 Secret Menu Items At McDonalds

Intro

The menu at McDonald’s has plenty of options for you, the adventurous fast food diner. But once you’ve sampled everything on it, it might be time to move to the next phase of McDonaldland life: The secret off-menu items. Here are 15 of them, which you can order at any participating McDonald’s (which I’m pretty sure is all of them), even though they don’t appear on the menu.

All American

McDonalds

The “All American” is a former fast food staple that you unfortunately don’t hear much about anymore: The plain hamburger. Adorned with ketchup and pickles, this American classic has gone extinct in many circles thanks to that insidious substance known as “cheese.” But you can still get one if you know how to ask.

Biscuits and Gravy

Biscuits and Gravy

Available in many of the southern McDonald’s, this southern classic gets the McDonald’s twist. What’s the gravy made out of? Who cares! You’re ordering biscuits and gravy at a McDonald’s, you’re not the type to get picky about ingredients.

Chicken and Waffles

McDonald's Chicken and Waffles

Another revered southern dish, McDonald’s-style. Rather than a waffle with chicken tenders on top, it’s a McGriddles sandwich with McDonald’s chicken crammed into the middle, through some strange and mysterious McAlchemy. Be careful, you may come to prefer it to the original.

Land, Sea and Air Burger

Land Sea and Air Burger

This is basically the Captain Planet of McDonald’s sandwiches. With their powers combined, the hamburger, the McChicken, and the Filet-O-Fish form the Land, Sea and Air burger! And like Captain Planet, it will be fondly remembered and discussed with friends for years afterward even though it probably wasn’t very good.

Fries with Special Sauce

McDonalds Special Sauce

That wonderful “special sauce” that McDonald’s prides itself on isn’t just for the Big Mac. If you ask nicely, you can get gobs of it smothered all over your french fries. Ketchup is officially on life support (see also: you in a few years).

Coke Float

McDonalds Coke Float

Delicious McDonald’s ice cream lovingly blended with refreshing McDonald’s Coca-Cola. Why isn’t it on the menu? I’m not sure, maybe it’s because it’s too delicious for the general populace to handle safely.

McLeprechaun

McDonalds McLeprechaun

Lots of McDonald’s fans get excited in the month of March, when Mickey D’s offers the legendary Shamrock Shake for St. Patrick’s Day. But TRUE McDonald’s aficionados are salivating for the McLeprechaun – a shamrock shake blended with a chocolate shake. Two great tastes that taste great together!

2 Cheeseburger Meal

2 Cheeseburger Meal

As you might figure from the name, this is an off-menu combo meal that allows the consumer to purchase two (2) cheeseburgers, fries, and a soda for one low price. Isn’t it wonderful to live in a world where such things are allowed to exist? And it’s a secret, which makes it even more fun.

Big McChicken

Big McChicken

Have you ever been eating a Big Mac and thought to yourself “this needs way, way more chicken.” Then consider the Big McChicken, which, wait for it – replaces the bun on the classic Big Mac with two additional chicken patties. You could probably also use the Big McChicken to choke a horse, but we haven’t done any experiments of that type.

Grilled Cheese

McDonald's Grilled Cheese

It’s a little weird that a kid-friendly establishment like McDonald’s wouldn’t have this childhood staple on the menu. But you can still get one, which is melted cheese on a bun. Simple, classic, and (probably) delicious.

Root Beer Float

McDonald's

Similar to the Coke Float, but with one key difference. In place of Coke, there’s root beer instead. Go ahead and take a minute to read over that again, I know it’s a little confusing. All will become clear though, once you try it.

Neopolitan Milkshake

For the next time you can’t decide what flavor milkshake you want at McDonald’s, it’s the Neopolitan Milkshake. It combines vanilla, chocolate and strawberry ice cream layered one on top of the other and blended into a frosty shake. But not a Frosty, that’s a different restaurant. This picture is also from a different restaurant.  Oh well.

Monster Mac

Monster Mac

You might assume that the designation “monster” is meant to be tongue in cheek. But no, the Monster Mac is a literal monster, with 8 beef patties, special sauce, lettuce, cheese, pickles, and onions inside the signature sesame seed bun. Bring a couple friends, or they might be carrying you out of there.

Pie McFlurry

There are a variety of different McFlurry options at your local McDonald’s, like Oreos, or M&Ms. But, off the menu, you can also get a McDonald’s fruit pie blended into your soft-serve ice cream. Can something that sounds that good really BE that good? Only one way to find out.

McKinley Mac

It may require some complex mathematical equation to determine which is worse for you, the Monster Mac or the McKinley Mac. Instead of 8 beef patties, the McKinley Mac replaces the Big Mac’s standard 2 beef patties with Quarter Pounder patties – resulting in a pound of beef on your formerly Big Mac. Yum?
