Nintendo has unveiled their Wii U console in full at this year’s E3 2012 event in Los Angeles.

The new Wii U console is set to replace their aging Wii console, and boasts all new hardware and a new gamepad controller that has a touch screen built into it. It’s like nothing we’ve ever seen before.

The 6.2″ touchscreen on the Wii U allows players to control their characters by touching the screen, but the controller also has its usual set of controller buttons and dual analog sticks for regular gaming. It’s also got a built in microphone, motion controls and an NFC reader for added features.

Nintendo announced a number of launch titles set to go, including a brand new Mario, Pikmin 3, Assassin’s Creed 3, and an upgraded version of Batman: Arkham City. One of the few surprise titles to hit the platform is Lego City, which could best be described as “Grand Theft Lego”.

Nintendo Wii U is set to launch this Holiday season, so don’t forget to pick one up.
