Mercedes-Benz Announces the SLS AMG GT for 2013
Mercedes has announced the new Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT, which is set to replace the older SLS AMG. The car is available as a Coupe and Roadster, and will go on sale this coming November.
Like its predecessor, the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT will run the same 6.2 liter V8 engine that’s in the current SLS AMG with an additional 20 horsepower—583, versus the 563 of the present model. Torque output stands at 479 pound-feet and it carries the same seven-speed AMD Speedshift dual-clutch transmission. It’s slightly faster than the current model, recording a 3.6 second time from 0-60, but it’s limited at 197mph electronically, just as before.
In addition to the engine boosts, the new model features a better interior with the introduction of a new Designo style package for that added comfort. It comes in three different color combinations and one or two-tone finishes. As always, the carmaker will give you the option to pad out the insides with a Bang & Olufsen sound system, various wheel options, and carbon ceramic brakes.
